Lineastone based in Auckland offers many bench top options. The bench top options we provide are Granite or engineered (man-made) stones. The options for engineered stone are Silestone and Caesarstone. All of our products are first grade quality and we will not install laminates (5-10mm thicknesses of man made stone). Our products are tried and tested and will stand the test of time from a family life's uncompromising punishments.

engineered stones

Engineered stones are approximately 95% natural quartz combined with 5% binding agents. Quartz is one of the hardest and most abundant minerals found in nature giving benchtops extreme resistance to scratching. Only diamonds, topaz and sapphire are harder. The products come in numerous colours, with consistent colouration density as opposed to granite which varies from slab to slab and even within each slab.

The slabs are generally available in 20mm and 30mm thicknesses which can be run efficiently and directly on our machinery. We can also mitre 20mm thick slabs to create a seamless look of anything upwards of 40mm edge profiles. To achieve this look we utilise a dedicated mitre saw, the only one of its type in New Zealand. Whilst the resulting quality of mitre is superb, the process is more labour intensive which makes these profiles more expensive than straight 20mm and 30mm profiles.

The major engineered stone that we use and recommend is Caesarstone.

caesarstone

Caesarstone is produced in Israel and distributed by the Laminex Group, which is owned by Fletcher Building Products Limited. The product was developed in 1987 and is manufactured with 94% quartz together with pigments and an advanced binding system. The colour range is available in 20mm and 30mm thicknesses, which can be mitred to form thicker profiles.

The bench tops demonstrate the following attributes:

  • 10 year warranty
  • non-porous (never requiring sealing)
  • high heat resistance
  • mold and mildew resistant
  • resistant to most household chemicals, acids and oils
  • cleaned with warm soapy water
  • awarded the highest possible results for stain resistance and resistance to dry heat by the Australasian testing authority CSIRO

The other engineered stones we fabricate display much the same characteristics as caesarstone and include:

silestone

Silestone is manufactured by the Consentino Group in Spain. The colour range is generally available in 20mm profile although there is a small range of 30mm thicknesses.

diamondstone

Diamondstone is manufactured in Belgium by Diresco. The colour range is available in 20mm and 30mm thicknesses.

quantum quartz

Quantum Quartz is manufactured in Asia. The colour range is available in 20mm and 30mm thicknesses.

granite

A granite slab will have the same general characteristics (such as colour) depending on where it has been mined. However each slab will vary from the next to a greater degree than the engineered stones. It is therefore recommended that the slab is inspected prior to being cut for your bench top.

Granite is available in 30mm thickness and some colours are also available in 20mm. Granite can be mitred to form thicker profiles although this may not be possible in some colours.
